Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an action/dark cartoon series developed by 4Kids Entertainment based on the comic book series created by Mirage Studios. Unlike the 1980s cartoon series that is more family friendly and childish, the new series is super dark and serious almost like the original comic. The original proposion for the show was to be pitched in to Warner Brothers Animation around 2001 which would have aired in WB Network and Cartoon Network. The turtles have different designs and a theme song (never released until the series finale aired) was different. WB Network passed the show and it was picked up by Fox to be airing in the FoxBox lineup. The show is one of the most popular non-anime shows in the block. 4Kids Entertainment and Dong Woo Animation produced the show with the frequent voice talents.
The show had a good success that it lead to three extra new seasons:
The Turtles franchise has been bought by Nickelodeon in October 2009 which now the creators cannot use there original NinjaTurtles.com domain and they have to sell there remains of TMNT. 4Kids still had the rights to broadcast the show until August 31, 2010. The show ended with a TV movie titled Turtles Forever in 2009 where the 2003 Turtles meet with the 1987 Turtles (none of the actors reprise there roles due to 4Kids being non-union) and they finally defeat the Shredder once and for all.
You can now watch the Turtles in a new CG-animated series on Nickelodeon in a reminiscint of the 80s and 2000s cartoons all in 3D animation with new actors.
